Typical recent projects:-
Brolly fitting on wheelchair to help the client stay dry when installing or detaching his chair from a car or when going to the local shops and being caught out in the rain. The mounting system has latches to ensure the brolly is not blown away in high winds.
Exercise bars in a clients garden, he used to exercise his leg muscles by climbing his stairs, holding the hand-rail each side and pulling himself up. His condition deteriorated and a stair lift was installed. He was concerned about loosing his leg muscle function.
The client wanted a commode that resembled a conventional toilet in seat form and height from the ground but the arms and back had to be removable for access, suppliers offered to do the modification but at high cost, REMAP did it for £10.
Mail collector tray (see left).
Gear reduction system for wheelchair to make chair easier to start moving.
Wrist controlled spoon to help a quadriplegic feed himself.
Extended height handles for walking frame to reduce the need for stooping
Swing for a girl with Hydrocephalus to help strengthen legs and ankles.
Detachable tray for a motorised reclining chair for person with Motor Neuron Disease.
Hinging bath board in a small restricted bathroom so that both a man with a muscular disease and his wife can bathe.
Young autistic boy in Braintree had severe behavioural problems but like many autistic children it was found a rocking motion calmed him. The problems was he was too big for readily available rockers, so REMAP made him one.
The client had broken both legs in an accident and needed a frame to help her get on and off the toilet but all the frames available were rigid and did not fold, this gave problems when visiting friends.
REMAP made the frame foldable using very rigid hinges to ensure stability.
The shortest crutches available were still too long from the hand grip to the upper arm support and dug into the client beneath the shoulder joint. REMAP shortened the upper portion to resolve the problem (as shown)
Man in Harlow has Huntingdon's disease, one of his few pleasures is smoking but he could not hold his cigarettes without risk of dropping or swallowing them. This removes that risk.
Lady in Burnham on Crouch who has walking difficulties had not been out of her house for a year as she could not negotiate the three steps down from the pavement and three steps up in to her house. This elevated walkway resolved the problem.
Man in Dunmow with arthritis had great difficulty in turning the ignition key in his new car. Simple key fob made to house the key and serve as a lever to ease turning.
